The owners loved their heritage weatherboard - the street presence, the period details, the sense of history it carried. What it couldn't do was keep up with family life. We preserved everything worth keeping at the front and opened up the rear into a light-filled extension that finally lets the home work the way the family does.

The new layout connects heritage and contemporary without forcing either to compromise. Restored period details sit comfortably alongside the open-plan family areas, and the shaker kitchen anchors the space with something that feels considered rather than fashionable. It's a home that flows and one the family can actually grow into.

Large windows bring the garden into the everyday. Custom joinery does the quiet heavy lifting. Every finish was chosen to feel warm and grounded rather than showy. The original character is still at the heart of it - it just finally has the space to shine.
